Gianni Infantino is a Swiss-Italian lawyer and football administrator who currently serves as the president of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), the governing body for football worldwide. He was born on March 23, 1970, in Brig, Switzerland, to Italian immigrant parents.
Infantino obtained a law degree from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland in 1995 and joined a law firm specializing in sports law. He later worked at UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) as the director of legal services and secretary general, before being elected as the president of FIFA in 2016.
As the president of FIFA, Infantino has implemented various programs and initiatives to promote the development of football around the world. He has also been involved in efforts to improve the transparency and accountability of FIFA and strengthen its governance structures.
Infantino has received both praise and criticism for his leadership of FIFA. Some have commended his efforts to modernize and reform the organization, while others have accused him of being too cozy with certain member associations and of lacking transparency himself.
